Over 5000 Scanned Negatives of Mount Isa and Over 25000 Unscanned negatives of Mount isa Majority of the unscanned negatives where rescused from the Mount Isa dump by the founder and president of NQHC INC. Brian Adamson who through this Created North Queensland History Collections. which became North Queensland History Collections Inc. mid 2024.
Memorabilia
North Queensland History Has over 350 pieces of memorabillia items from Mount Isa which has been collected and some donated by people leaving Mount Isa because they know it will be very well looked after and displayed.

ABOUT
How The North Queensland History Collections Inc Started
North Queensland History Collections Inc

Was started in 1988 by Brian Adamson
-
Brian was born in Mount Isa in 1961. In 1988 he started collecting old photographs of Mount Isa after discovering old photographs of Mount Isa discarded at the local refuse centre.

As a keen photographer Brian realised the history of Mount Isa was being destroyed so he decided to save the history, and started collecting photos as well as copying of old photos that families wanted to retain possession of.

Today the collection has over 30.000 photographs of Mount Isa and have been taking photographs of Businesses & the city year in year out as well as shops when they close & open building's being built or knock down.

Brian and his team also photograph local events each year to keep a photographic history of the city.

With the help of SIS Specalised Industrial Soloutions Mount Isa are working on resoring the Old Rotary Train from the Old Kalkadoon Rodeo Grounds we hope to have this completed by August 2025.

We are also working with Father Mick Lowcock and the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish to Find a venue that we can use to display our historical photographs and historical memorabillia for the community of Mount Isa to benefit from.

our next display is the Multicultural festival in September 2025 @ the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish.

1998: Funding from regional arts development fund of $ 864.00 for developing of photographs for Mount Isa 75th anniversary back to Mount Isa Week.

2019: $3605.00 was received as Funding from regional arts development fund for a display at the Mount Isa library and construction of storage boxes to preserve the photos and peg boards used in the displays

2023: Bunnings Mount Isa made a donation of materials to make much needed storage boxes
